SARAH HICKEY

Sarah is a performance-based director with a hybrid focus across commercial and narrative works (in both comedy and drama). Her strength, and her passion, lies in creating works that pop, resonate and ultimately say what they set out to say, leaning toward ethical brands, sensitivity to current social climates, and being conscious to represent diversity where possible on (and off) screen.

Having worked as a writer and in development across an array of narrative series, Sarah’s series concepts are starting to catch the eyes of Screen Australia, FilmVic and Stan, having been shortlisted for the FilmVic/Stan initiative for her series ‘Bulldog’s Alley’ in 2019, shortlisted for the AACTA Pitch Awards (2019) for the same series, and funded for development by Screen Australia for series ‘The Followers’ in 2020, and shortlisted globally for men’s mental health series ‘Real Boys Don’t Cry’ through Movember’s ‘Social Connections’ initiative (2020).

Sarah also has a high level of experience in Creative Direction and ideation, having conceptualised many digital content campaigns, and high-end TVC concepts. Her ability to understand how a piece needs to be effective from a client perspective makes her a natural choice for pieces that require attention to detail, and of a brand’s nuances.

Whether it’s an authentic grounded performance required, or something more elevated, quirky and fun, her approach is always to build a strong connection and rapport with the talent she works with.
