Ali produces and directs a diverse range of documentaries, short advertorial films, creative projects, film clips and multimedia for the web.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Ali arrived in Australia in 1989 after spending her first years of life in Africa. These early years of transience and travel instilled a deep sense of curiosity and an unfaltering desire to explore.
At the age of 17, free of the constrains of formal education, she began to travel the world. Whilst working in the Great Southern Alps of New Zealand, teaching English in Shanghai and backpacking through Europe, her love of story telling and visual communication grew strong.
After completing her bachelor degree and working as a photographer for a number of years, she dove into the deep end of a new life and career in Brazil. For two years she worked in the fast paced world of the São Paulo film and photography industry. As a member of production collective Galeria Experiência, she filmed and photographed for a huge diversity of clients and projects including TV show ‘Base Aliada’ for Rio based channel GNT, Red Bull, Nike and LG amongst others. During this time she also worked as a freelance photojournalist for São Paulo’s largest newspaper Folha de São Paulo, producing work for their culture guide, magazine and daily journal.
Ali is currently based in the city of Brisbane, Australia. Here she is a full time photographer and filmmaker. Some of her local brands include The Bank of Qld, Bundaberg Regional Council, Brisbane Private Hospital, Qld Ballet, QPAC (Rocky Horror Show) and Brisbane Powerhouse (APAM festival).
